2018 "Bomb" Cyclone

posted Jan 4, 2018, 8:40 AM by Jim Herrmann

This week across much of the country we are seeing frigid temps, high winds, and snow.  An impressive low pressure system is moving up the east coast pulling arctic air and generating measurable snowfall as far south as Jacksonville, FL.  It has been classified as a "Bomb" Cyclone because the pressure drop as it approaches is so severe (> 24mb).  We must be diligent in our preparations for cold weather hazards.  Dress in layers, cover all exposed skin, and pack extras to be prepared.

Nice article to read thru.  There is a sure need for our youth to be mindful of their cyber footprints.  This month's safety briefing discussed this topic and sent a copy of the article linked here home with the cadets present.

Updated Safety Vest Requirements

posted Apr 2, 2013, 1:52 PM by Jim Herrmann

In accordance with CAPR 62-1 safety vests work by CAP personnel must now meet Class 2 or Class 3 ANSI requirements.  This is in compliance with federal laws governing anyone performing duties which expose them to vehicular traffic.  Please read the bulletin from NHQ and update your field gear at your earliest convenience.
