Glider "O" Flights Kick Off!
Canandaigua Composite Squadron has finally after two years of trying achieved their first glider rides. On September 3, 2008 three flights were accomplished at the Canandaigua Airport(D38) Cadets Adrielle and Hannah Watkins were the first two cadet to ever get an "O" flight in a glider for NY-212 along with Capt. John McKelvey.
On Sunday September 7, 2008 history continued to be made when nine more glider rides were accomplished at D38. All four Composite Squadrons in Finger Lakes Group attended. Rochester Composite received four cadet rides, Condor Composite received one cadet ride, Batavia received two cadet rides, and Canandaigua Composite received two more all rides lasted .4 of an hour.
A big thanks goes out to the Capt. Ted Timmons and LtCol James Pierson for their time/efforts to tow the glider and a big thank you goes out to 1Lt Todd Cameron for doing all nine glider rides for all the Squadrons.
On Sunday we also achieved a new Tow pilot when LtCol James Pierson was signed off as a tow pilot.
Last but not least a very special thanks goes out to our Group Commander LtCol Diane Wojtowicz and LtCol Bill Hughes Wing DO for their effort to get the glider into the area and all their help both days to get things started and for instilling safety through out the two day event.
